The
benefits of an Amazon baby registry
Completion discount: When you register with
Amazon, you’ll get something called a "completion discount." This
gives you 10 percent off — 15 percent off for Prime members — a one-time
purchase of products from your registry. You’ll get the email 60 days before
your due date and you have up to 60 days after your due date to take advantage
of it. That means you can save the big-ticket items — like the crib and
stroller — until about eight weeks before you're due or even do a big order
after baby has arrived. Amazon allows you to apply the discount to up to two
orders of up to an aggregate of $2,000, which means you can save up to
$300. (Just note that your registry must be active for at least two weeks
to score the discount.)
Free 365-day returns: If you don't like one of
your gifts, you can return it up to 365 days after the date of your shipment.
The best part? You get a credit, and the gift giver never finds out! Keep in
mind that baby products purchased by you, the registry owner, can be returned
within 90 days.
Free two-day shipping: Prime members
automatically get two-day shipping for free on their orders. If you don't have
Prime, you can take advantage of the free shipping perk by making sure your
registry orders are more than $25.
Universal registry: If something you want
isn't on Amazon, that's just fine. Amazon offers a Universal Registry feature
that allows you to add items from other sites, too. You install a simple registry
button on your browser — it's easy, we swear — and use it when you like a
product on another site. The item goes straight onto your registry.
Welcome box: The Amazon Welcome Box
is a great way to get some free stuff (and who doesn't love that?) while trying
out brands that you normally wouldn't buy. It includes products for mom and
baby (most are sample size) that you can test out after your little one
arrives, valued up to $35. The mix of products in every box is a surprise,
which adds to the fun. It doesn’t come automatically when you sign up for your
registry, though. You need to be an Amazon Prime member and complete 60 percent
of the checklist created when you register (more details on that below).
Someone also has to have made a $10 purchase from your registry.
How to create a baby registry on Amazon
1. Go to
amazon.com on your desktop, or access the Amazon app on your iOS or Android
device.
2. If
you're new to Amazon, create an account. If you already have an Amazon account,
login.
3. Once
you've logged into your Amazon account, in the top right corner, click the accounts
and lists drop down menu.
4. On the
left side of the dropdown menu, select create a list.
5. On the
top of the screen, you'll see some list suggestions. Click Baby Registry
6.On the next page,
click Create a Baby registry.
7. From here, you input any personal info you'd like to include,
including expected arrival date, gift options, and who can see your registry.
8.When finished, click create my Baby Registry. And that's it!
You can start adding items to your registry.
Now
that you've created your list, you can start loading it up with all the things
you'll need for your little one's arrival. Before you fall into the vast depths
of Amazon, it's a good idea to have a list of must have items. Take inventory
of what you have and jot down what you might need. Then, you can start adding
items to your registry. Here's how to do it.
How to
add items from your registry page
There are actually a few ways you can add items to your baby
registry. The first way is by heading to your registry page.
1.Open your registry page.
2.At the top of the page, click the add items link.
3.Pick
a category, and it will take you to a new page full of products that fit that
category. If you want to add a product to your registry, click the yellow add to
registry button.
How to add items from a search
If you have your list and specific items in mind, you can also
add items doing a general search and after that add that in your baby registry card.
